The Footstool Restaurant

The atmospheric, brick-vaulted restaurant in the crypt of St. John’s provides a wonderful environment to enjoy a meal or glass of wine before or after the concert. The Restaurant is open weekday lunchtimes and on concert evenings only from 5.30pm on weekdays and from an hour and a half before the start of a concert on Saturday, Sunday or public holidays.

Pre-concert

To make the most of your concert experience, why not dine in the restaurant? At St. John’s we offer both formal and informal dining in the form of an a la carte menu as well as an assisted service light buffet menu. Our a la carte menu offers two or three courses whilst at the buffet we offer a dish of the day and selection of salads. Orders are taken from the main menu up until half an hour before the start of the concert. There is a fully licensed bar with a new and extensive drinks list including wines by the glass from the award winning Tate Britain wine list.

Interval

As a result of our recent refurbishment we now have two bars from which to serve interval drinks and a selection of nibbles. Pre-ordering of drinks before the start of the concert is strongly advised. On the busy nights we also provide a separate wine station with light snacks.

Post-concert

Reservations are taken up until the start of the concert for post concert dining. We are happy to offer a two or three course à la carte menu post concert or offer guests that dined pre concert the opportunity to have pudding and cheese with illy coffee or Jing leaf tea after the performance. Alternatively, we offer a range of tapas style dishes from the bar that can be enjoyed after the concert.

Advance booking is recommended for pre and post concert dining to avoid disappointment.

Weekday Lunchtimes

On weekdays, the restaurant at St. John’s is open for lunch from 11:30am to 2:45pm. The menu is created using predominantly British produce and seasonal ingredients and changes according to the availability from our network of suppliers. For those with less time to linger over lunch, we offer a buffet with three dishes of the day and a selection of salads which allow you to make the most of your visit.
