Dukas' The Sorcerer's Apprentice opens the evening, followed by a blazing performance Antonina Suhanova in Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No 3. Then, Richard Strauss' epic tone poem Also sprach Zarathustra, famous in popular culture from its use in "2001: A Space Odyssey", brings the evening to a dramatic ending.
