A longstanding musical partnership, Anna Kondrashina and Pavel Timofeyevsky have always been interested in both exploring and expanding the flute and piano repertoire. In this concert the duo will present a programme that will feature their original transcriptions of Clara Schumann’s three intimate Romances, Efrem Zimbalist’s virtuosic Golden Cockerel Fantasy based on themes from Rimsky-Korsakov’s Opera as well as George Gershwin’s sparkly preludes. Alongside these transcriptions the musicians will perform Erwin Schulhoff’s rarely-played flute and piano sonata, which they believe to be one of the great masterworks of the 20th century chamber music repertoire. The transcriptions presented at this concert are a part of a set of original arrangements that Kondrashina and Timofeyevsky have created over the last three years, which they intend to publish as well as record for their debut album “Rewired Music”, to be released in the Autumn of 2023.
