Simon Over starts the new Southbank Sinfonia fellowship year with Skoryk, Panufnik, Kidane, and Vaughan Williams. A wide-ranging programme, ‘Melody’ is Ukrainian composer, Myroslav Skoryk’s most popular work, and is frequently described as a spiritual hymn of Ukraine. Following on, Southbank Sinfonia celebrates its 20th anniversary with the world premiere of Roxanna Panufnik’s ‘TWENTY’. Daniel Kidane’s reflective work, ‘Be Still’, was composed in 2020 as a response to the passing of time through the COVID-19 pandemic, and is intended to create an inner sense of calm.

These works provide a captivating upbeat to Vaughan Williams’ eighth symphony, a buoyant and optimistic work. Celebrate the new fellowship year with us in this concert at St John’s Smith Square.
