'Into the Hands of Sinners'

Tenebrae opens Holy Week Festival 2021 with this moving sequence of music and readings for Palm Sunday. Beginning with Weelkes’ celebratory anthem Hosanna to the Son of David, this programme takes us from Christ’s entry into Jerusalem through the Crucifixion and to the sealing of his tomb. Well-loved Renaissance gems such as Byrd’s Civitas sancti tui sit alongside lesser-known works such as Casals’ dramatic setting of O vos omnes in this beautiful candlelit performance, with readings by Rev. Graham Buckle and Helena Bickley-Percival.
