  • Activities that involve 1,000 children and young people, such as schools' concerts, workshops and masterclasses.

St John's Smith Square's Christmas Challenge

For the first time ever, St John’s Smith Square is taking part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge, which runs from Tuesday 28 November and Tuesday 5 December. The Big Give is the UK’s biggest online match funding campaign and helps thousands of charities raise millions of pounds each year.

St John’s Smith Square aims to raise £5,000 to support Young Artists to take part in its renowned talent development programme, which includes support to lead community projects with local schools and students.

Last year, Young Artists delivered a range of activities for schools and universities, such as a special Schools’ Concert led by Palisander, workshops on Schumann presented by Christina McMaster and masterclasses with conservatoire students facilitated by Minerva Piano Trio. In total, 1,000 children and young people took part and benefitted from their experiences.

The artists’ enthusiasm for what they were doing communicated itself to us instantly, and that made for a shared sense of excitement and achievement, which was great.

I wouldn’t be where I am now without the St John's Smith Square Young Artists' Scheme; it opened many doors I didn’t even know existed and I could not have done this without the support of the team who encouraged me…every step of the way.

The more we can raise this year, with your support, the more ambitious and impactful our projects can be. Help us to meet our Christmas Challenge and make a gift if you can. Thank you for your support.
