Designers and artists across London are being encouraged to put pen to paper and get involved with a competition to celebrate creative minds throughout history.

Iconic pen manufacturer Sheaffer are asking designers to create the official show poster for Lucy Parham’s Sheaffer Sunday Matinees series, which begins on Sun 24 September 3.00pm with Sense and Sensibility’s Dame Harriet Walter and Blackadder’s Tim McInnerny.

The winning design will be displayed in the building, and the winning designer will receive four tickets to a Sheaffer Sunday Matinees concert of their choice and lunch in the Footstool restaurant plus some Sheaffer goodies.

Lucy’s series of shows celebrate the experiences of composers and how their music has been created based on their life experiences – entitled Composer Portraits. The concerts are all written by the award-winning pianist based on her own extensive research and focus on the hidden stories of Europe’s greatest composers, including Robert Schumann, Frédéric Chopin and Sergei Rachmaninoff.

Designers are being encouraged to combine the theme of the shows with Sheaffer’s theme of ‘Ingiting your Curiosity’ to create head turning and bold posters, encouraging music afficiandos young and old to take a seat in the 304-year-old auditorium.

All entries will be judged by Lucy Parham, composer and writer of Sheaffer Sunday Matinees, and Nicola Shepherd, Sales and Marketing Director at the A.T. Cross Company. Nicola spoke about the opportunity for designers to get involved with the shows: “The Sheaffer Sunday Matinees are an event we look forward to every year. This year we want to get more people involved across the capital.

“This is an exciting opportunity for us to work alongside some of the most exciting and upcoming designers demonstrating their individual style and flair.”

“We can’t wait to see a whole host of designs and look forward to some tight judging!”

All entries for the competition must be received by midnight on Sun 10 September either by post to 6 Waterloo Road, Wolverhampton, WV1 4BL, or via email to [email protected]
