This year’s St John’s Smith Square’s 31st Christmas Festival saw record numbers of visitors and welcomed some of the nation’s most outstanding choirs and ensembles. The festival, curated by Stephen Layton, celebrated the great British choral tradition and welcomed back familiar choirs such as The Tallis Scholars and Trinity College Choir, Cambridge and featured newcomers La Nuova Musica and director, David Peter Bates, as well as St John’s Smith Square’s 2015/16 Young Artist, The Gesualdo Six with director Owain Park.

During the festival, St John’s Smith Square also raised a total of £3,086.82 for its community and education projects. Money raised will go towards projects such as the London International A Cappella Choral Competition, which brings together international and national choirs for a week of special concerts and events, and delivery of outreach work with local schools and community groups, led by St John’s Smith Square Young Artists 2016/17.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made a contribution to this year’s appeal. And thank you to all our Patrons, Friends, supporters and visitors for your generous support in 2016.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and we look forward to seeing you 2017.
