St John's Smith Square welcomes back musicians Ben Tarlton and pianist Robin Green for a program of Central European works in this lunchtime recital. Alongside Beethoven’s 7 Variations on ‘Bei Männern Liebe fühlen’, they will perform Pohadka by Czech composer Janacek and the 1st Rhapsody arranged for cello by the Hungarian composer Bartok. The concert will include the rare opportunity to hear the hauntingly beautiful Louange à l’Éternité de Jésus’ from Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time.

Ben's concert highlights include Recitals at Wigmore Hall, St James’s Church Piccadilly, St Martin-in-the-Fields, Buxton and Harrogate International Festivals, Concerto performances at St John’s Smith Square, West Road Concert Hall Cambridge, Dora Stoutzker Hall Cardiff and a performance of Messiaen’s ‘Quartet for the End of Time’ in The Barbican Hall, broadcasted on BBC Radio 3 and reviewed by The Guardian as ‘sensationally played’.
