Missa brevis Sancti Joannis de Deo (Little Organ Mass) Hob. XXII:7

The outstanding Civil Service Choir has been performing in St John’s Smith Square for over ten years and has delighted audiences every time.

They return with two charming, much-loved short mass settings by Schubert and Haydn.

Schubert’s Mass No. 2 in G major was composed in 1815, in less than a week, and is the best known of his short mass settings. Written in 1775, Haydn’s Missa Brevis takes its nickname, the ‘Little Organ Mass’, from the organ solo in the Benedictus.

This concert has free ticketed admission. There will be a charity collection in the hall.
