Connaught Brass are to make their debut at St John Smith’s Square with a unique line-up of original and specially commissioned arrangements tailored for the modern quintet. Featuring Witold Lutosławski’s energetic Mini-Overture, Victor Ewald’s prizewinning Quintet No.1, Lili Boulanger’s introspective Clairières dans le ciel, and highlights from Bizet’s scandalous opera Carmen, this young quintet are sure to dazzle the senses piece by piece.
Having already made their debut at the Lucerne Festival and London’s Wigmore Hall, the ensemble’s ability to manipulate and unify sound earned them 1st Prize in the Inaugural Philip Jones International Brass Ensemble Competition (2019) and the Royal Overseas League Mixed Ensemble Competition (2022). Vibrant, spirited and bold, Connaught Brass emphasise their friendship with one another as they showcase individual musical personalities within a unique collective sound.
