An exciting creative collaboration between pianist Nafis Umerkulova and young musicians of The Purcell School, conducted by Paul Hoskins.
This concert celebrates the launch of Nafis Umerkulova's album Darkness Illuminated and features a unique programming approach, combining solo recital and symphonic performance. A chance to hear celebrated masterpieces, including Beethoven’s 4th Piano Concerto and Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings Op.48, alongside hidden gems of the piano repertoire such as the works of lesser known Russian composer, Alexei Stanchinsky. Many of Stanchinsky's contemporaries hailed him as a genius, however his premature death at the age of 26, followed by the Great Russian Revolution a few years later resulted in his name soon being completely forgotten.
Please note that there is a pre-concert talk at 6.00pm.
