Join LCO as they celebrate Gustav Mahler and his beautiful music, in what promises to be a very special evening. Following an orchestral musical journey with Blumine, Dr Leah Broad will help us get to know the man and his music, before John Findon and Marcus Farnsworth perform the haunting vocal lines to Das Lied von der Erde. As a conductor, he was ruthless — his singers were so offended by his criticisms that a couple challenged him to duels. He applied the same standard to his composing, declaring that a symphony must do nothing less than ‘be like the world. It must contain everything.’ This concert takes us on a journey through everything in Mahler’s world.
